Through our classes at the Midwest Massage Training Center, you can find your passion and your niche.
Thanks for stopping by. I have been in the massage therapy industry since 2008. It’s been a long and winding road of serious triumphs and major set backs. I have found so much fulfillment as a massage therapist but I’ve also noticed some major holes in our profession that need some serious education. I am committed to creating more opportunities for the massage therapists in our community and across the country to experience evidence based, trauma-senstive, ego-less massage education. I have seen amazing results with my clients over the years but I see that I can create a bigger ripple of change when I work with massage therapists. It’s time to end the age of “no pain, no gain” massage therapy and begin to see our worth as a valuable asset to our clients well-being. Relaxation is powerful and it has started getting this bad reputation for being fluffy and ineffective when actually the opposite is true. When our clients move toward their Parasympathetic Nervous System and OUT OF fight or flight, they start to see drastic results that leave them believing in the results of therapeutic massage. It’s not our technique or our modality, however it’s obvious I have a few that I prefer, but it’s our intention that sets the tone for the session. If we go into a session believing our hands/feet are magic and they are doing the work, we’re already setting our client up to fail. When we intend to relax, soothe, ease, and comfort…along with a heavy emphasis on anatomy, kinesiology, and understanding the way the body functions…it’s a concoction for a severely healing massage session.
I understand that many massage schools have been preaching similar but different ideologies and it’s time for more regulation on the schools to keep education top notch and on the leading edge of research. We are at a very pivotal time in our industry and it’s time that we start getting involved in the regulation and legislation so that the future holds opportunities for ourselves and our clients. Many schools flaunt a notion that you can “work for yourself!” or “make $60 per hour!” and no one is holding them accountable to those “facts.” The Business portion of many massage schools can be a joke and too many massage therapists are coming out of school underprepared with wide eyes. Luckily, the rest of the world is seeing the benefits of massage therapy and many therapists are booked and busy. But they are over working their schedules, their bodies, and their hearts.
There is a way to have it all.
